A challenge for individuals to push themselves out of their comfort zone after experiencing life- changing circumstances.

The Motive

Hello, I’m Rachael!

I’m a PE teacher living in Edinburgh. My mission  is to encourage others to step outside their comfort zone after experiencing a life-changing circumstance which has thrown them off track.

In 2017 at the age of 24, I almost lost my life in the sea after being hit by a speedboat. I was left with life-changing injuries. Years later, I decided to take on a challenge to gain back some of the confidence I had lost, feel more in control of my life and to overcome a trauma which consumed me for years.

In September 2024, I  completed a solo 11 mile swimming  marathon  across the Firth of Forth from Elie to North Berwick. I was supported by Forth Logistics with a boat and crew, alongside my support team. This experience pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me set new personal life-ambitions.

OUR VISION

We Swim Relays is being piloted with the long-term aim of becoming a sponsored, charitable open-water challenge for adults and young people who have faced life changing circumstances. We’re currently exploring opportunities with potential sponsors and supporters who would like to be involved from the beginning and help shape its future.
